Congratulations to Robert Saville from Rockingham Redi-Mix for earning top honors at the 2018 Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Mixer Truck Roadeo! The event was held Monday, April 16th at The Meadow Event Park in Doswell, VA. Mr. Saville is a mixer truck driver with four years driving experience. Prior to that he operated heavy equipment, following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps. As the first-place finisher, he takes home a check for $500 and receives a free trip to the VRMCA Spring Convention at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV.

The VRMCA Mixer Truck Roadeo was established to offer a fun, competitive environment for mixer truck drivers to show off their skills and knowledge. This year, 20 drivers participated in the event which includes a written examination, pre-trip truck inspection and driving challenge course. Prizes are offered to the top two finishers in the event.

Second place and a check for $350 was awarded to Javon Spence, a 14-year veteran driver with Titan America in Norfolk.

Competition this year was tough. After the final scores were tallied, there was a three-way tie for first place. The finalists participated in a total of three tie-break skill tests to determine the first and second place finishers!

Job well done by all who participated this year! Plus, a special thank you to Vulcan and Titan for donating trucks for the event!
