The Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s 2018 Best of the Best Class made the trip to Washington, D.C. last week for Session Two of the program. The session focused on Advocacy and Government Relations.

Things kicked off Tuesday afternoon when the team met with Andrew Tyrrell, NRMCA Executive Vice President, Government Affairs. The discussion centered around the top issues that could affect our industry in the near future. Wednesday was a full day as the group met with nine Virginia Congressional offices on Capitol Hill. The focus of those meetings was to raise awareness and reinforce the importance of infrastructure funding through the Highway Trust Fund, VRMCA’s opposition to the Timber Innovation Act and the Congressional Ready Mixed Concrete Caucus.

The group will be getting together again in mid-August in Charlottesville, VA for Session Three where they will discuss Team Leadership. Participants will also be assigned case studies which will be presented at the 2018 Fall Convention in Virginia Beach.
