VRMCA and its Southwest Virginia Concrete Advisory Council announced they will be holding a seminar showcasing the use of pervious concrete in the recently completed Virginia Department of Transportation Exit 140 Park & Ride project.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 7th beginning at 8:30am at the Baymont Inn & Suites in Salem, VA. There is no cost to attend, but reservations are requested.

The seminar will include a presentation by Travis Higgs, Pavement Design and Geotechnical Engineer VDOT – Salem District Materials entitled Salem Park & Ride: Making the Impossible Possible. Mr. Higgs will discuss why this location selected pervious concrete as well as what they learned during testing and construction of this first of its kind project in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Phil Kresge, Vice Presdient of Local Paving with the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, will also be presenting. Mr. Kresge will be discussing the benefits of pervious concrete and why it should be part of the conversation in site strategies.

A site visit including a performance demonstration will be offered at the Salem Park & Ride directly following the presentation.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please RSVP to Jennifer Greenwood via email at Jennifer@vrmca.com. Seminar attendees are eligible to receive two AIA/PDH credits.
