Please join the Virginia Ready Mixed Concrete Association in congratulating Hunter Adkins on being awarded the VRMCA Scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) this year!

The VRMCA Scholarship is awarded to a high school senior who is accepted for enrollment at MTSU with a major in Concrete Industry Management and exhibits a strong interested in pursuing a career in the concrete industry, among other criteria. And based on the scholarship essay he submitted, Hunter definitely shows a passion for the industry, “Experiencing a construction site from start to finish such as watching a building or project being completed and knowing you had something to do with it is what is so fulfilling about this field. Seeing the project later on in life makes you feel a sense of pride.”

It’s fair to say that concrete is in his blood, too. His father – owner of Southside Concrete Supply and Adkins Concrete Finishing (and VRMCA member) – gave him the opportunity to spend time in the field and experience the industry first hand. Hunter is willing to put in the hard work required and has plans to open his own business at some point in the future.

Hunter will receive $2,500 a year for two years as the VRMCA Scholarship recipient.
