If you’ve been anywhere near Old Dominion University recently, you know that there has been a flurry of activity on campus, in large part due to the construction for the new S.B. Ballard Stadium at Foreman Field. It all started when ODU began tearing down the east and west stands of its existing stadium back in November 2018.

Demolition of the old stadium has been completed and the beginnings of the new $67.5 million stadium have started to take shape. A total of 670 piles were driven into the ground, underground utility lines were placed and building forms were installed. All leading up to the 6,000 cubic yards of concrete that was supplied by VRMCA-member Capital Concrete, Inc. for the foundation footers on top of the pilings.

The new 21,870-seat stadium will include new restrooms and concession stands plus a new press box and an upscale club level on the west side. It is scheduled to be completed for the home opener against Norfolk State on August 31, 2019. Check out this time-lapse video of the project that S.B. Ballard created!
